Mark 9:33-35

Mighty Servants of God. Love doesn’t overlook problems. Love communicates clearly; establishes expectations, goals, and boundaries; journeys with, empowers, and holds people accountable. Love acknowledges the truth and encourages change. Jesus wasn’t afraid of speaking the truth His disciples needed to hear. They needed to learn a different way of loving, living, and leading. Jesus believed that speaking truth would lead the way to transformation.

They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” – Mark 9:33-35

Prayer: Lord, You know the difficult conversations I need to have with others. Instead of avoiding those conversations, teach me how to speak the truth—even difficult, hard to hear truth—in love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
